SUGGIA INTERNATIONAL AWARD / Casa da Música

Seven young cellists, from Europe’s most prestigious schools and conservatoires, have been selected for the recital round of the Suggia International Prize in Hall 2. In this round, each will perform a programme of their own choosing before an audience and an international jury. Only three will proceed to the grand final, where they will take to the stage as soloists with the Porto Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra.

Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música

The Suggia International Prize brings some of Europe’s most promising young cellists to Porto, representing prestigious music schools and conservatoires. Following the recitals in the preliminary rounds, three finalists will take to the stage at the Sala Suggia alongside the Symphony Orchestra.

Pianist and composer Jason Moran has been a transformative force in jazz since his rise to stardom in the late 1990s. His 18-year relationship with Blue Note resulted in nine albums, each hailed to the heavens by international critics.

Marie-Ange Nguci explores the Norwegian roots of Grieg’s Concerto as Orquestra XXI returns to the Sala Suggia, in a programme that combines Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 with a premiere by Andreia Pinto Correia.
