Casa da Música is a regional finalist for the 7 New Wonders of Portugal

Casa da Música is a finalist in the New 7 Wonders of Portugal, in the 21st Century – Northern Region category.

Designed by Rem Koolhaas and opened in 2005, the Boavista building is the only one in Portugal designed exclusively for music. Over the course of two decades, it has been at the heart of the city’s cultural programme, artistic creation and daily life without losing its uniqueness — architectural, cultural and symbolic.

The next stage is the regional final, on 8 August, in Amarante. To go further, it is counting on the votes of those who recognise this building as a landmark of the present day.
