Bianca Dacosta

Rem Koolhaas’ iconic architecture inspires dialogue between different arts and reaffirms Casa da Música’s vocation as a space for encounters and creative experimentation. It is in this spirit that Bianca Dacosta has been invited to serve as Artist in Residence 2026, reinforcing this desire to cross artistic disciplines and enrich the way Casa da Música is experienced. The visual artist’s perception of the world emerges in a scenic creation inspired by Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Floresta do Amazonas, which will accompany the Symphony Orchestra’s performance of this score. This reveals the poetic and sensory vision of two Brazilian creators, separated by decades but united by artistic dialogue and ecological awareness.
Born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Bianca Dacosta develops a plural practice that spans film, photography, installation and sculpture, constructing a body of work where memory, territory and nature intersect in a post-colonial and anti-extractivist perspective. Using natural, scientific and symbolic elements, she creates images of nature under threat in the Anthropocene era, reinventing myths and organic forms that invite us to imagine a new balance between humanity and the planet.
An internationally renowned artist, he has been a resident at Villa Arson (Nice, 2021), the National Library of France, Paris City Hall (2024) and the Fertile Association (2025).
