Vote for Casa da Música as one of the New 7 Wonders of Portugal

In the 21st Century category, Casa da Música is one of three heritage sites from Portugal’s Northern Region competing in the New 7 Wonders of Portugal. The institution is currently included in the list of 147 heritage candidates nationwide, in a project that distinguishes, by popular vote, some of the country’s most notable examples of built heritage.

The candidacy was selected in the Northern Region, in a category dedicated to contemporary architecture and to works distinguished by their cultural relevance, urban impact, architectural excellence, and contribution to the affirmation of Portuguese architecture.

This recognition highlights the architectural, cultural, and symbolic uniqueness of Casa da Música, a building designed by architect Rem Koolhaas and conceived in Portugal to be dedicated exclusively to music. Since its opening, it has established itself as an icon of the city of Porto, a national and international landmark, and a vibrant space for creation, encounter, artistic enjoyment, and public service.
