Yoav Levanon

Piano Series

The prodigious young pianist Yoav Levanon, instantly recognised by the critics for his tremendous performative maturity, presents an extraordinarily virtuoso recital at Casa da Música. Bach’s Prelude in B minor, transcribed by Siloti, is followed by Busoni’s portentous transcription of the Chaconne from Violin Partita No. 2, in which the brilliance of the original writing is amplified by the piano, at times with an almost orchestral dimension. After numbers from Chopin’s Études Op. 25, which reconcile the technical challenge and musical substance, the second half consists of Liszt’s Transcendental Études, which represent a high point in piano virtuosity and in the poetry of Romanticism.
