ORQUESTRA SINFÓNICA DO PORTO CASA DA MÚSICA

With a remarkable academic background, including studies under Maria João Pires at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, Daniel Blumenthal at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and Milana Chernyavska at the Reina Sofia School in Madrid, Rafael Kyrychenko has been awarded prizes at international competitions such as Maria Canals, Aarhus, Lugano, and Vigo. In the complete series of Prokofiev’s piano concertos presented by Casa da Música in 2024, the pianist from the Azores performs the 3rd Concerto, the most well-known among the general public. Subject to brilliant orchestration, it contains some of Prokofiev’s most inspired themes. Under the direction of conductor Andrew Gourlay, the program includes the world premiere of a new orchestral work by Vasco Mendonça, Composer in Residence in 2024.
