From popular blockbusters to cult classics, Casa da Música annually celebrates cinema through its music – that element which makes movies unmistakeable and once brought colour to their silent origins. Conducted by Katharina Morin, the Orquestra Sinfónica presents a unique programme that pays homage to the gripping musical tradition of American adventure films. These iconic soundtracks, inseparably tied to the movies they were written for, transport the audience to Hollywood in a concert designed to captivate both children and adults. The Remix Ensemble brings to life The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Robert Wiene’s German Expressionist masterpiece. Wolfgang Mitterer’s score for this silent horror classic, performed live by the ensemble, heightens the dramatic tension in this tale of a hypnotic madman. Additionally, the family cine-concert Vejam Bem (Look Closely), featuring four films created by kids and teens, is a fresh production also enhanced with live, on-the-spot musical performances.

Four films produced by Anilupa, the animation film studio of the Associação de Ludotecas do Porto, with the signatures of children and young people, are screened and soundtracked live. The music was created specifically for each film and is played simultaneously with the projection by the composers themselves.
