Techno-animism

Digitópia

Techno-animism is the idea that technological objects, far from being merely neutral tools, may contain a form of agency, presence, or even “spirit.” Just as animist traditions recognise a soul in stones, rivers, or trees, techno-animism suggests that machines, algorithms, or digital systems can also be understood as living entities, with which we relate affectively, symbolically, or spiritually. Taking place during Easter, this concert seeks to raise questions about the place of the sacred in the contemporary world, the role of error, noise, and failure as expressive and deeply human elements, and the faith we place in machines – so crucial to our future.
