Symphonic Jazz
Nuno Côrte-Real stands out as one of the leading figures in Portuguese classical music. His taste for challenging musical boundaries is clearly evident in this programme, in which he makes his debut conducting our Symphony Orchestra with two works full of diverse musical languages. As soloist in the Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra, he is joined by Sérgio Carolino, one of the most acclaimed tuba players of our time. The invitation to Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos to join him on stage will be an opportunity to immerse oneself in the original world of Alex Paxton, one of the most modern, imaginative and energetic artists of the moment. The Concerto for Jazz Band and Orchestra clearly illustrates the principles that govern his artistic production: creating “magic sound things” in a radiophonic landscape, music made from tunes and grooves, inspired by many forms of music that we live amongst (film, TV, radio, folk, jazz, community music, etc.).

PREPARE YOUR VISIT
Performances start promptly at the scheduled time. The doors to the halls are open to the public 30 minutes beforehand. Once the show has started, entry will not be allowed except during the intermission or for events with programmes which allow for this, as determined by the ushers.

The Casa da Música Foundation offers paid parking with 644 spaces, equipped with Via Verde, and open 24 hours.
Building, Ticket Office, and Shop – Open daily from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. On show days, the building remains open until the end of the performance, and the ticket office and shop stay open until half an hour after it starts.
Cloakroom – Casa da Música offers a free cloakroom service, available on all show days.
Café – Open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. On concert days, the hours extend until the start of the concert.
Shop – While waiting for the show to start or during the interval, take the opportunity to visit our shop, where you will find publications, CDs, and other items.
If this is your first time visiting us, you might find the answers to some frequently asked questions below helpful.
Do I need to print the tickets purchased online? No. After making a purchase on our website, you will receive an email with your tickets attached, which you can either print or present at the entrance of the Hall.
Purchase of discounted tickets. For holders of discounted tickets, it is mandatory to present proof of eligibility at the entrance of the Hall. Failure to present such proof may prevent access to the show.
Can I take photos or record the concert? No. You may take non-flash photos inside the hall only until the concert begins, after which no sound or image recording is allowed.
Can I leave and re-enter during a concert? Yes. If you need to leave the hall during the concert, you can only re-enter, following the guidance of the hall assistants, between movements or at the end of a piece. You may have to occupy a seat that does not correspond to the one on your ticket.
Can I use my mobile phone or tablet during a concert? No. The use of mobile phones or tablets inside the hall (even in silent mode) is highly disruptive to the concentration of the audience and musicians due to the light emitted from the screens.
I can’t attend a concert; can I exchange my ticket? It is not possible to exchange or refund tickets, so please check your tickets at the time of purchase.
