Return to the Baroque

Orquestra Barroca Casa da Música : Remix Ensemble Casa da Música

A drama by Pier Paolo Pasolini meets The Passion According to St. John in this concert shared between the Baroque Orchestra and the Remix Ensemble. For the first time, the two groups perform the same score: a work inspired by Pasolini’s text of the same name, which denounces a hypocritical and cruel society that oppresses all those who dare to live outside the norms imposed by a bourgeois and capitalist system. The Composer in Residence at Casa da Música, Hèctor Parra, describes the score as “one of the most intense compositional experiences” he has ever had – a project that he himself would later develop in the form of an opera. A rare opportunity to hear the dialogue between two ensembles that inhabit universes separated by centuries.
