Pizarro performs Britten

Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música

Casa da Música marks the 50th anniversary of Benjamin Britten’s death by presenting his Piano Concerto, a work rarely heard in traditional concert halls but increasingly valued by great performers, fascinated by its energy and originality. One of them is tonight’s guest, Artur Pizarro, one of Portugal’s most renowned pianists, winner of three first prizes in international piano competitions. The second part of this concert by the Symphony Orchestra features Brahms’ Brahms’ Symphony No. 2, a work that exudes warmth, lyricism and a pastoral atmosphere – and is therefore often compared to Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony.
