Peer Gynt

ORQUESTRA SINFÓNICA DO PORTO CASA DA MÚSICA

The young Finnish conductor Taavi Oramo makes his debut at Casa da Música with a program that reflects the success of his career: mastery of the great classics alongside a taste for contemporary music. Following the delicacy and orchestral refinement of Lili Boulanger’s typically French writing comes the Norwegian epic that narrates the adventures of Peer Gynt, in Grieg’s most famous work. The concert opens with music by the Portuguese composer Carlos Caires and culminates with one of Magnus Lindberg’s great orchestral works. Presented in its national premiere, “Tempus Fugit” was written in 2017 and confirms the place of the Finnish composer among the greatest composers and orchestrators of the 21st century.
