Nomadic Jazz · Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música Invites Oboa Nomade

Matosinhos em Jazz

The encounter between an unconventional oboist and an adventurous symphony orchestra is set to take place at yet another edition of Matosinhos em Jazz. The programme, entitled Oboé Nómada, stems from a desire to blend jazz and classical music on a journey that begins in the Mediterranean. Oboman’s compositions – some with a Tunisian flavour, others inspired by markets or the urban jungle – engage in dialogue with a work by Jacques Ibert and with “Certeza”, by the Portuguese pianist João Paulo Esteves da Silva. The result is a delicate balance between the written and the improvised, between the spontaneity of jazz and the long heritage of the oboe, an instrument with almost three millennia of history. An open-air summer’s evening, open to all at Matosinhos em Jazz.
