Lina “Fado Camões”
The award-winning fado singer Lina released a new album earlier this year titled “Fado Camões,” in which she adapts the poetry of the “patron” of the Portuguese language, Luís Vaz de Camões, to traditional fado. Produced by the British musician Justin Adams (known for his work with Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin, Tinariwen, Souad Massi), this album, featuring arrangements by John Baggott (from Massive Attack and Portishead), has received high praise from both national and international critics and has reached the top of some of Europe’s main world music charts. In live performances, the fado singer is accompanied by Ianina Khmelik (on piano and synthesizers) and Pedro Viana (on Portuguese guitar).
