Jussen Brothers

Piano Series

They are among the most sought-after piano duos today and have the ability to fill concert halls with an unusually young audience. Dutch brothers Lucas and Arthur Jussen became the youngest musicians to sign a contract with the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon and were still in primary school when they made their debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 2005, they began taking lessons with Maria João Pires, who taught them “the importance of breathing and never separating technique from musicality”. They bring a wide-ranging repertoire to Casa da Música, from Bach’s Baroque chorales to Gershwin’s jazzy swing. Brahms, Lutosławski and Kulenty are present with pieces in the form of variations, and French lyricism comes to us with Fauré and Ravel.
