Hands-on Sound
The Hands-on Sound concert is a unique, free-entry event made up of truly contemporary music. We propose an immersive experience in which the audience not only watches, but also actively participates in the universe of sound creation.
The protagonists of the evening are original instruments whose creators, who conceived and built them, will also be their interpreters. Each of them will present a performance that reveals the creative potential of their resonant artefacts and the specific soundscapes they make possible. Mão na Massa Sonora, organised by Digitópia Casa da Música, will also feature Sonoscopia and SAS Orkestra de Rádios, three collectives that have been exploring the potential of technology for community and collaborative music creation.
But the stage is yours too! We’re looking for sound instrument creators who want to present their creations. If you are developing an original instrument and would like to share your vision and sound, we invite you to submit your proposal to our open call until 27 November 2024, via this link.
Come and experiment, play, and discover new ways of making music. Mão na Massa Sonora is an invitation to audiences of all ages to explore, create and celebrate their sonic imagination. Take part or just come and watch and share this moment with us.

PREPARE YOUR VISIT
Performances start promptly at the scheduled time. The doors to the halls are open to the public 30 minutes beforehand. Once the show has started, entry will not be allowed except during the intermission or for events with programmes which allow for this, as determined by the ushers.

BICYCLES You can use the network of bike lanes in the city centre and leave your bicycle at the various stands we provide for this purpose.
The Casa da Música Foundation offers paid parking with 644 spaces, equipped with Via Verde, and open 24 hours.
Building, Ticket Office, and Shop – Open daily from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. On show days, the building remains open until the end of the performance, and the ticket office and shop stay open until half an hour after it starts.
Cloakroom – Casa da Música offers a free cloakroom service, available on all show days.
Café – Open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. On concert days, the hours extend until the start of the concert.
Shop – While waiting for the show to start or during the interval, take the opportunity to visit our shop, where you will find publications, CDs, and other items.
If this is your first time visiting us, you might find the answers to some frequently asked questions below helpful.
Do I need to print the tickets purchased online? No. After making a purchase on our website, you will receive an email with your tickets attached, which you can either print or present at the entrance of the Hall.
Purchase of discounted tickets. For holders of discounted tickets, it is mandatory to present proof of eligibility at the entrance of the Hall. Failure to present such proof may prevent access to the show.
Can I take photos or record the concert? No. You may take non-flash photos inside the hall only until the concert begins, after which no sound or image recording is allowed.
Can I leave and re-enter during a concert? Yes. If you need to leave the hall during the concert, you can only re-enter, following the guidance of the hall assistants, between movements or at the end of a piece. You may have to occupy a seat that does not correspond to the one on your ticket.
Can I use my mobile phone or tablet during a concert? No. The use of mobile phones or tablets inside the hall (even in silent mode) is highly disruptive to the concentration of the audience and musicians due to the light emitted from the screens.
I can’t attend a concert; can I exchange my ticket? It is not possible to exchange or refund tickets, so please check your tickets at the time of purchase.
