In 1939, Garoto, one of the most innovative guitarists in the history of Brazilian music, received a letter from the biggest Hollywood star of the time: Carmen Miranda. The Portuguese-Brazilian artist invited him to join the Bando da Lua on a tour of the United States. The success was immediate: for a full year, Garoto was “rapturously applauded”, winning over audiences with his remarkable versatility. Seven decades after the death of these two brilliant artists, Clube do Choro-Porto revives the gems of Garoto’s instrumental repertoire, alongside the songs immortalised by Carmen Miranda’s voice.
