CLUBE CHORO DO PORTO invites CRISTOVÃO BASTOS and ILANA VOLCOV
Clube do Choro – Porto pays tribute to the 80th birthday of one of Brazil’s most relevant pianists, composers, and arrangers, Cristóvão Bastos, in a gathering that also features São Paulo singer Ilana Volcov. The Porto-based collective and the two guests lead the audience on a journey where samba, song, and choro intersect to celebrate generations and affections. Cristóvão Bastos began his professional career in 1961 and has since built a unique path, having formed creative partnerships with central names in Brazilian music, such as Chico Buarque, Paulinho da Viola, Paulo César Pinheiro, Edu Lobo, Gal Costa, and Nana Caymmi. His piano, marked by melodic elegance and deep harmonic knowledge, remains a reference both in Brazil and abroad. Trained in the body percussion group Barbatuques, Ilana Volcov is, through the communion of voice and presence, a complete interpreter, and her musical rapport with Cristóvão Bastos is clearly evident in the album they released together in 2025, Acariciando.
