Casa da Música’s 20th Anniversary

02 – 28 April

Casa da Música’s 20th birthday will be celebrated with concerts in various musical genres, educational activities and a series of conferences. Two Easter Concerts are included with hugely significant, yet utterly different, compositions for the history of music. The Orquestra Sinfónica, Coro Casa da Música and Ensemble Vocal Pro Musica join together to perform the Glagolitic Mass, a grandiose work by Leoš Janáček celebrating Slavic culture. The programme also includes Anton Bruckner’s Te Deum, a fierce demonstration of faith, and an invitation to the acclaimed Russian mezzo-soprano Natalya Boeva to sing a hopeful Lied by Max Reger. The Orquestra Barroca also marks the Passion of Christ on an evening that begins with Vivaldi and features a gem of Italian Baroque: Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, the composer’s most well-known piece and one of the most perfect examples of European sacred music.
